The scene at the lower end of
Meriwhitica Canyon, just beyond the bushy oasis of Meriwhitica Spring/Indian Gardens and right at the edge of the travertine drop off above the junction with Spencer Canyon. Octotillo and ferocacti grow over the rocky ground on the canyon floor but most of the area is quite barren. Spencer Canyon lies almost 1,000 feet below, while the Colorado River is just two miles away to the north.
