This panorama is taken from a small hill above Pipeline Cove, an inlet on the west side of Lake Pleasant, in the foothills of the Hieroglyphic Mountains. The surrounding vegetation is typical of the Sonoran Desert, with saguaro, palo verde, buckhorn cholla and teddy bear cholla much in evidence. The upper end of the cove is crossed by the Pipeline Trail via a pontoon bridge - a walk of half a mile from the nearest road.
