The Boynton Canyon Trail ends at a viewpoint of sheer cliffs enclosing the drainage on three sides, beneath the inaccessible summit of Bear Mountain. The red sandstone slopes above the canyon floor are covered by a mixture of bushes and cacti, while tall pine trees grow in the cooler, moister environment around the streambed.
