This panorama was taken from the edge of a small hill beside Soldier Pass, from where many square miles of the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness are visible. Sedona lies 3 miles south along Soldier Pass Canyon, a wide, wooded drainage bordered by high sandstone ridges on both sides; the western flank ends in the distinctively-shaped Coffeepot Rock, while the east side has other tall red spires and pinnacles, on the far side of which is Mormon Canyon, course of the Brins Mesa Trail. Wilson Mountain rises further to the east, while to the north, far beyond Brins Mesa, are more distant cliffs at the edge of the Mogollon Rim.
