Although the immediate surroundings are farmland, various recreation sites in the desert are a short drive away including Jacumba Outstanding Natural Area to the west and the Algodones Dunes to the northeast. The property will rebrand as Hampton Inn by Hilton Calexico, fall 2024.

The border with Mexico is just 3 miles south. The hotel has 58 rooms on 3 floors, located just off highway 111 (Cole Boulevard exit) between Calexico and exit 118 of I-8 - opposite a Wal-Mart and close to a good selection of restaurants. The main amenities are free full breakfast, outdoor pool/hot tub and exercise room.
