★★ 1. Holiday Inn Express Klamath - Redwood National Park Area171 Klamath Boulevard, Klamath, CA 95548 The first chain hotel in the tiny north California town of Klamath opened late summer 2014 - the Holiday Express is a beautiful, modern, pine-clad property of three floors and 60 rooms, set in a scenic, wooded valley next to US 101, though accessed by a quieter side road. There are three restaurants and a casino a short walk away. The Klamath River flows past a quarter of a mile west, soon reaching the Pacific Ocean, an area explorable via the narrow Klamath Beach Road which intersects the highway 1.5 miles south. The land on the far side of the river is part of Redwood National Park, though the main area of the park is 20 miles away, beyond Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Hotel amenities include free hot breakfast buffet, a business center, a fitness center and a complimentary local area shuttle. One other point of interest nearby (right opposite) is the Yurok Tribe information center. |
