Nearly the southernmost hotel in California, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites San Diego Otay Mesa sits at the edge of a industrial/business park less than one mile from the Mexican border, just off Highway 905 which continues south into the eastern section of Tijuana. The hotel caters mainly for business travelers to and from Mexico, though the local attractions are all within easy reach, including downtown San Diego - a 20 mile drive away, partly on interstate 5. Accommodation comprises 46 suites and 53 rooms, all containing a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, while the other amenities are an outdoor pool, whirlpool, guest laundry, exercise room, a 24 hour staffed business center, and free continental breakfast. For other meals there are at least 4 restaurants one block south.

Quality Suites Otay Mesa is a medium-sized hotel of 75 large rooms, on the west side of CA 905 in a business area less than a mile from the border with Mexico. The immediate neighborhood has a few restaurants though not many other facilities; a better selection is found in downtown Otay Mesa, 7 miles west. Although 20 miles from the center of San Diego, the freeway connections are good and the hotel provides cheaper rooms than many hotels nearer the coast. The Quality Suites has an outdoor pool, sundeck & hot tub, and it serves the familiar free continental breakfast.
