Along El Camino Real half way between Palo Alto and the neighboring town of Mountain View, the 194 room Crowne Plaza Palo Alto occupies a large, wooded site surrounded by private residences, with its accommodation blocks quite far from the highway ensuring a quiet night's sleep. Although primarily a business hotel, catering to the nearby Silicon Valley technology companies, the attractions of San Jose and San Francisco are an easy drive away along US 101. The many full service amenities of the Crowne Plaza include a beautiful lobby, a large outdoor pool & hot tub, a restaurant, two bars, gift shop, fitness center, and a wide range of facilities for business & meetings.

The Westin is a downtown Palo Alto hotel, offering full service amenities accompanied by high quality customer service. The pet friendly guest rooms and suites have views either of the bustling suburban neighborhood, or of the four Mediterranean-style courtyard gardens within the building, one containing the outdoor pool. Some have one or more of a sofa bed, whirlpool bath and balcony or patio. The onsite Restaurant Soleil serves all-day dining and provides 24 hour room service; there are many other restaurants close by, along Palm Drive in the city center. Also available are a 24 hour fitness center, and four function rooms. The hotel is located along El Camino Real, just across from the Stanford University campus.

Hotel Citrine opened summer 2021, a member of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio collection, a group of upscale, boutique properties with individual decor and design elements. Located along San Antonio Road on the south side of Palo Alto, the hotel is within a few miles of many tech companies including LinkedIn, Google and Microsoft, plus leisure attractions like the Shoreline Golf Links and Palo Alto Baylands. There are 150 rooms & suites available, some with a private patio. Dining outlets are a lobby lounge/bar and a restaurant, while a convenience store sells drinks and snacks. At the rear is an outdoor pool/hot tub with sundeck.

The Sheraton hotel in Palo Alto adjoins the intersection of Palm Drive with US 101, opposite the northern entrance to Stanford University, within walking distance of a shopping center and numerous restaurants & bars. The 346 room property occupies a spacious, tree-lined site, centered on a tropical courtyard garden with good-sized outdoor pool, all surrounded by plenty of parking spaces. The Palo Alto Caltran station is one block away, for connections to San Jose and San Francisco. The hotel has a restaurant beside the pool, serving breakfast, lunch & dinner, plus evening drinks. Events of up to 500 people can be accommodated in conference rooms.

Open early 2021, the AC Hotel is an upscale, full service property of 144 elegant, stylishly-decorated guest rooms, situated along San Antonio Road between US 101 and El Camino Real. Select accommodations feature an outdoor patio. Cuisine and decor have European influences, and the many facilities include an outdoor pool with sundeck and fire pit, a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, meeting/event space, and a lounge/bar with fireplace. The Google headquarters is 2 miles east, and there are many other tech companies within a few miles.

The 136 room Homewood Suites by Hilton is situated along the main road through Palo Alto (El Camino Real), also close to Los Altos and Mountain View. Locations within two miles include San Antonio Shopping Center and VA Palo Alto Healthcare. The San Antonio Caltrain station is 0.8 miles away, while the nearest US 101 exit (400A; Rengstorff Avenue) is 2 miles east. The all-suite hotel offers spacious, modern accommodations in studio, one bedroom and two bedroom configurations, all featuring free wi-fi and a full kitchen. Full breakfast and evening light dinners (Monday-Thursday) are complimentary. Snacks and cookable meals can be purchased from the on-site convenience store. The Hilton Garden Inn is one of a pair of new Hilton properties to open in Palo Alto in 2014, located along El Camino Real within three miles of Stanford University, Shoreline Park, and the corporate headquarters of Google and Hewlett Packard. The hotel is built on the southwest side of the highway in a mixed residential/business neighborhood, adjacent to one restaurant and a short walk from several more. There is also a dining outlet on site, open for breakfast and dinner. Guest rooms feature a work desk, microwave, refrigerator, free wi-fi and a coffee maker. Snacks and chilled meals can be bought from a 24 hour convenience store. The business center is also open 24 hours. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, a fire pit, and meeting space.

Comfort Inn Palo Alto offers 70 well maintained, refrigerator/microwave-equipped rooms, looked after by friendly, helpful staff. The pet friendly inn is located 2 miles east of the center of Palo Alto and 2.5 miles from Highway 101, closest exit being 402, the Oregon Expressway. Accommodations are on two floors, in one long exterior corridor block facing either the parking area or an adjacent building, so the views are not especially exciting, but the neighborhood has a good selection of restaurants. Other amenities are a business center, and free breakfast, which includes a few hot items.
