One of the more easily reached summits of Kings Canyon National Park, the granite dome of 8,209 foot Big Baldy overlooks a large area of the western Sierra Nevada mountains; recognizable features include Monarch Divide, Kings Canyon, Buena Vista Peak, Redwood Canyon and Redwood Mountain. The view to the east is partly blocked by trees, though here too the horizon is formed by distant mountains, of the Great Western Divide.
