The Resort at the Mountain has a particularly quiet and scenic setting at the mouth of the narrow valley of the Salmon River, enclosed on two sides by steep, wooded hills of the Mt Hood National Forest. Welches town center is one mile south, while US 26 runs past one mile north. The hotel complex includes the 27 hole Mt Hood Golf Course, amongst the first to be constructed in the state (in 1928); other leisure facilities are an outdoor pool, whirlpool, steam room, fitness center, spa, games room and childrens' playground. The 157 guest rooms and suites are divided between several buildings, and have either mountain or forest views. There are two dining outlets onsite; Altitude, a fine dining restaurant, and Mallards Cafe & Pub. Weddings, conferences and other events can be accommodated by over 40,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor space.
