A panorama near the end of the Obsidian Flow Trail in the Paulina Lake area of Newberry National Volcanic Monument. The lake is visible to the north, and 7,984 foot Paulina Peak to the west, but most of the view is of the black lava and grey pumice of the Big Obsidian Flow, produced as recently as 1,300 years ago, making this the most recent lava field in Oregon.
