A panorama of the Alvord Desert in southeast Oregon, usually a dry lake bed but covered by a thin layer of muddy water on this occasion. The high peak to the north is 9,773 foot Steens Mountain, still bearing some snow in early August.


To navigate in a panorama, use the mouse to click and drag the picture left or right, or the keyboard arrow keys. Press the Shift key to zoom in or the Control key to zoom out.
