South Padre Island Hotels

The Courtyard is the first Marriott hotel in South Padre Island, open winter 2019-20, and situated almost at the north edge of town, on the east side of the main road, backing on to the beach. The five story property contains 224 rooms & suites, all with a private balcony, and many with far reaching views over the ocean, and of the extensive pool complex. Other features include a lobby-level restaurant/bar, a second bar overlooking the seafront, and over 10,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space.

Right on the north edge of South Padre Island (3.7 miles from the end of the causeway), the Hilton Garden Inn is a large, modern and popular resort with a very peaceful setting, adjacent to Andy Bowie Country Park and facing the Gulf of Mexico. The Convention Center is just across the road and there are shops & restaurants a few blocks south, but a short distance north the land becomes completely undeveloped. The hotel offers 156 elegant, spacious rooms (many with ocean views), an on-site restaurant (open all day), a lounge/bar, an oceanfront outdoor pool, a fitness center, and meeting space for up to 690 people.

The Ramada receives some of the best guest ratings for South Padre Island hotels on account of its affordable rates, comfortable accommodations, friendly staff and the scenic setting, on the ocean side of the main road, just 400 feet from the nearest beach. The exterior corridor, two floor property is angled away from the highway and has a line of palm trees all around the perimeter. All rooms contain a refrigerator and microwave, and some on the upper story have sea views. Leisure amenities are a putting green, outdoor pool, whirlpool, sundeck, basketball court and fitness center. Free deluxe continental breakfast is prepared each morning.

Tthe Holiday Inn Express is a fairly new South Padre Island hotel, and about the most northerly, situated opposite the convention center close to the start of undeveloped sand dunes that stretch for many miles further north. The hotel is next to the main road on the island (Padre Boulevard), 1/4 mile from the beach - close enough for some of the 104 rooms & suites to enjoy ocean views. Others overlook the hotel's outdoor pool and whirlpool. Free continental breakfast is served, while for lunch & dinner there is a good selection of restaurants and bars south along the main road.

The Best Western has a quiet location in a residential area between Gulf Boulevard and Route 100, equidistant from the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway - about a quarter of a mile. The hotel has a pool at one side, beneath a few palm trees, the parking lot at the front, and undeveloped land to the rear; inside, facilities are a fitness center, coin-operated laundry and a dining area for the free hot breakfast. All accommodations feature a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. There are several restaurants adjacent.

About half way along Padre Boulevard, the Comfort Inn is a medium-sized, interior corridor property, the guest rooms on two stories, with views north and south over the mostly residential neighborhood. The hotel has an outdoor pool at the front and is close to several restaurants. Wi-fi, all-day coffee and breakfast are complimentary. Guest rooms contain a microwave and refrigerator. The Gulf of Mexico beach is a quarter of a mile east.

Near the south end of the busy resort of South Padre Island, the Comfort Suites is a well-reviewed, medium sized hotel half way between the main road (Padre Boulevard) and the beach at the Gulf of Mexico - about 400 feet from both. The hotel has an outdoor pool & hot tub, gift shop, guest laundry, and a microwave & refrigerator in all rooms. Free full breakfast is served and there are many restaurants, bars and clubs a short walk away. The Sunchase Shopping Mall is one block to the north.

A Mexican restaurant helps shield Super 8 South Padre Island from the main road (Padre Boulevard); the motel is set back from the highway, so guest rooms are nice and quiet, with views over the residential neighborhood. A side channel of the Laguna Madre comes close to the rear of the motel, while to the east, the sandy beach is 0.3 miles away. There are 66 rooms available, all featuring a refrigerator and microwave, and including several suites with one or more of a sofa bed, kitchenette and hot tub bath. The pool is outdoors, at the front, next to a patio and barbecue facility. Free eight item continental breakfast is provided.
