Legoland is 5.5 miles north of the pet friendly Quality Inn Encinitas, an easy journey mostly along Interstate 5, which runs right past the motel to the west, and in the other direction reaches downtown San Diego after 25 miles. The immediate surroundings are residential, with just one restaurant nearby (Subway), and the closest beach is just less than a mile away. There are 101 guest rooms available, some featuring a sofa bed, microwave & refrigerator (all have free wi-fi and ironing facilities), contained within quite a substantial three floor building with a secluded outdoor pool to one side, and all lined by the obligatory palm trees. Free breakfast is provided, with a few hot items.

Days Inn Encinitas has a pleasant location surrounded by trees, backing on to a small hill; at the Encinitas Boulevard exit of I-5, though far enough from the interstate to escape the noise of traffic. Encinitas Station is 0.3 miles away, for easy travel north and south, while the beach is also within walking distance (half a mile). Footpaths follow the interstate in both directions, through wooded parkland. The motel shares its parking lot with one restaurant (Denny's) and is right opposite a shopping center with several more. The usual free continental breakfast is prepared each morning. The accommodation block has three floors and exterior corridors, with the parking lot at the front and a shady outdoor pool at one side.

Free continental breakfast, free wi-fi, guest laundry and a copy/fax service are the limited amenities of Rodeway Inn Encinitas, a small (61 room), two floor, exterior corridor motel along Hwy 101 towards the north edge of town, half a mile from the nearest access point to the Pacific Ocean beaches. The neighborhood is mostly residential, but the main road is lined with a selection of restaurants, bars and small shops. Interstate 5 runs past a few blocks east; access is from exits 44 or 43, both about 1.3 miles away.
