Hampton Inn San Diego-Poway is part of an extensive business district either side of Scripps Poway Parkway, 5 miles east of I-15 and 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. There are a few shops within walking distance, and at least six restaurants; the nearest mall is along the interstate. Highlights of the modern, well managed, 108 room/suite hotel are free hot breakfast (take-out version available), a good sized outdoor pool, a convenience store, a fitness center and meeting space for up to 320 people.

Poway, CA, is a small town in the hills 20 miles north of San Diego, close to interstate 15 and about 15 miles from the nearest beach (at Del Mar). Of the limited selection of lodging, most central is the 43 room, 2 floor, exterior corridor Best Western Country Inn, located along the main street through town (Poway Road), adjacent to several shops and restaurants. Room rates are rather cheaper than for hotels closer to the coast, though the hotel still has a decent range of amenities, including a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, gazebo, sundeck, guest laundry, free continental breakfast and a refrigerator/microwave in each room.

Upper floor rooms at Ramada Poway have views across the developed surroundings to the grassy hills which enclose the town in most directions. A better outlook can be obtained by walking to the top of a small hill that adjoins the north side of the property. The pet friendly hotel has a west-central location at the junction of Poway and Pomerado roads, a short walk from shopping and dining. Amenities include a tree-lined outdoor pool and patio at the front, a business center, hot tub and one meeting room. All guest accommodations contain a microwave and refrigerator.
