Truckee Hotels

The Ritz-Carlton has a privileged location half way up the eastern slopes of Lookout Mountain, 9 miles from the center of Truckee and a similar distance from Crystal Bay at the north end of Lake Tahoe. The luxury, full service hotel is part of the Northstar Resort, a major center for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and for hiking and other mountain pursuits during the warmer months. Accommodations comprise regular rooms (455 square feet), suites, and residences, with two, three or four bedrooms - features include one or more of a gas fireplace, hot tub, floor-to-ceiling windows, sofa bed and balcony. The hotel also offers a spa (17 treatment rooms), a fitness center and an outdoor pool, plus 15,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space, and five food & beverage outlets.

Hampton Inn Truckee sits beside Hwy 267 on the southeast edge of town (1.8 miles from I-80 exit 188B), surrounded in most directions by undeveloped land with scattered pine trees, though Truckee-Tahoe airport is a short distance north. Many of the 109 rooms enjoy views of distant mountains; all are clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel's grounds include a pool, hot tub and plenty of parking space, while inside, the main facilities are a convenience store, fitness center, business center and meeting space. Free hot breakfast is provided.

The 114 room SpringHill Suites hotel in Trucklee opened summer 2020, backing on to Interstate 80 at the Donner Pass Road exit; a tree-lined location, with views of wooded mountains in most directions. All accommodations are studio suites, with microwave, sofa bed and refrigerator, while general amenities are a meeting room, convenience store, indoor pool, fitness center and a dining area where the free hot breakfast buffet is served. Most area restaurants are around one mile west in the town center. Truckee Tahoe Airport is 3 miles away.

One mile southeast of the center of Truckee, the Best Western has a quiet location on the edge of Ponderosa Golf Course, in a wooded, mostly residential area, one block away from CA 167 to Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe. The surrounding Tahoe National Forest has many opportunities for hiking, fishing and skiing - in winter the inn provides a shuttle to several local ski runs. The Best Western has 2 floors and 100 rooms, in a square shaped building with a central courtyard, gardens and heated outdoor pool. Free full breakfast is served, and drinks are available all day at the hotel's cocktail lounge; for other dining there is a Pizza Hut Express facility on the premises and plenty of other restaurants in downtown Truckee.
