The Crowne Plaza is the main hotel in Union City, CA, on the east side of San Francisco Bay half way (19 miles) between Oakland and San Jose, and it provides full service amenities to those visiting the area or just passing through along I-880. It is quite a large place, with 268 rooms on 6 floors, occupying a 7 acre, tree-lined site beside the interstate at the Alvarado-Niles Road exit in a generally residential neighborhood but less than a mile from the Union Landing Shopping Center. The pick of the many amenities are a restaurant, bar, sports court, gift shop, fitness center, outdoor pool, hot tub, 4,644 sq ft of meeting space, and a complimentary shuttle to/from Oakland International Airport

Sites within a short walk of Hampton Inn Union City include a supermarket, several other large stores, a 25 screen movie theater, a city park and several dozen restaurants; the hotel is part of a commercial district on the west side of I-880, about half way (5 miles) between the San Mateo and Dumbarton bridges over San Francisco Bay. The property was newly constructed late 2013, and offers a good range of facilities accompanied by the high Hilton standards of customer service. All guest rooms contain a work desk, microwave and refrigerator; snacks and cookable meals can be purchased from the 24 hour convenience store. Free hot breakfast is provided each morning.

Union City's Holiday Inn Express is situated close to the largest hotel in town (the Crowne Plaza) along Alvarado Niles Road, right next to the large Union Landing shopping/dining/entertainment center that includes around 20 restaurants and 25 movie screens. The clean, new hotel receives good guest reviews for its friendly staff, comfortable rooms and the range of facilities - chief of which are an outdoor heated pool, a whirlpool, fitness center, guest laundry and free hot breakfast. Silicon Valley and the center of San Jose are 20 miles south along interstate 880.
