The newest hotel in Sterling is the 84 room Holiday Inn Express, open fall 2017, built at the edge of a wooded area close to a small lake; along US 6, the main approach to the city from the east. The I-76 intersection is a short distance away, but there are few facilities in the vicinity; most restaurants are in the downtown area, between 1 and 3 miles west. Places within walking distance include a gas station, the Overland Trail Museum and the Logan County Information Center. The hotel has business & fitness centers, both open 24 hours, plus an indoor pool and a dining area where the free hot breakfast buffet is served.

Best Western Sundowner is a well maintained, 2 floor property that serves free continental breakfast and has leisure amenities of an indoor pool, outdoor pool, spa, solarium and an exercise room. Accommodation comprises 58 bright & clean rooms, looking out over the countryside on the east side of town, in between I-76 and the wooded South Platte River. There are several footpaths near the hotel, leading through the trees and along the river, which is also popular for fishing. The closest restaurants are 1.5 miles away in Sterling town center, along US 6.

Comfort Inn Sterling provides a clean, reasonably priced place to stop for those driving across Colorado east on I-76. The hotel is located right next to exit 126 (US 6) of the interstate, a mile from Riverview Golf Course beside the South Platte River, and 2 miles from the town center. There are 54 rooms & suites available, some with a microwave/refrigerator, plus facilities of a pool, hot tub, fitness room, free internet access, and free hot breakfast.

Rooms at Super 8 Sterling have views of grassy fields in most directions; the two floor, interior corridor building is one of three motels on the east side of I-76 by the US 6 intersection, conveniently located for cross-state travelers. East-side rooms are quieter, though the place is set back 650 feet from the interstate so all accommodations are relatively peaceful. The two usual complimentary amenities of wi-fi and continental breakfast are provided, plus a basic business center and an indoor pool.
