Aria
Aria Resort & Casino is the centerpiece of the spectacular, 76 acre
CityCenter development - the most expensive private construction project in US history - which also includes the two
Veer Towers (a residential building),
The Crystals shopping/dining/nightlife/entertainment complex, and two other high end hotels,
Mandarin Oriental and
Vdara. The project was fully completed in 2010; most of the land was previously occupied by the Boardwalk Hotel, which was demolished in 2006. The 4,004 rooms & suites at Aria are contained within two interlocking semi-circular buildings, one 61 stories the other 51, set back 1,000 feet from Las Vegas Boulevard along City Center Place. West-facing rooms overlook the extensive pool, cabana and garden area, with I-15 running past just beyond. A short monorail links the CityCenter with the nearby MGM sister properties of
Bellagio and
Monte Carlo.
Aria highlights are 15 restaurants, ten bars, 300,000 sq ft of convention/event space, a 150,000 sq ft casino, a fine art collection and the
Spa & Salon at Aria. The signature show is
Viva Elvis, one of several Cirque du Soleil productions in Las Vegas, featuring a mix of music, dance and acrobatics inspired by the great Elvis Presley. Another show (Zarkana) from the same company debuted late 2012.
