The desert five spot, eremalche rotundifolia is a particularly attractive species, producing delicate, cup-shaped flowers formed of five overlapping pink petals, each with a prominent red spot at the base. At the center is a spherical cluster of tiny stamens and stigmas. The range is centered on the Mojave Desert, extending across adjoining areas, up to 4,000 feet elevation.
