Woolly bluestar (Amsonia tomentosa) grows in the Mojave Desert of southern California, and eastwards across Arizona into parts of New Mexico and west Texas. Flowers form a spherical cluster of a dozen or so whitish flowers, yellow green at the center. Leaves are usually greyish green, and somewhat hairy. The species is relatively uncommon, found in the washes and on plains, at medium elevations.
