Flowers of the flatbud prickly poppy, argemone munita, have six thin white petals around a center of yellow-tipped stamens and a divided red pistil. Stems and leaves are covered by long prickles. Plants inhabit a wide range of elevations and environments, and are found across much of the West, from Arizona and California north to Oregon and Idaho.
