The luxurious, boutique Barfield Hotel occupies a historic, ten story brick building constructed in 1926 as an office and retail center; one of the very first high rise structures in Amarillo. The building is centrally located in downtown Amarillo on the corner of Polk Street and 6th Avenue, four blocks from the Civic Center.

Four Points by Sheraton Amarillo is a large, full service but reasonably priced hotel occupying half of a relatively old building (shared with the Fairfield Inn) next to exit 71 (Ross Street) of interstate 40, on the north side of the highway; it contains 128 rooms on four floors and including a cafe/lounge, fitness center, hot tub, games room and indoor pool. Downtown Amarillo is 1 mile west, while the international airport is 7 miles away. Event facilities comprise four meeting rooms (catering for events of up to 250 people) and a business center.

Open fall 2024, the Hampton Inn, 3rd of this brand in Amarillo, is part of a large group of hotels and other businesses on the north side of Interstate 40, across from Westgate Mall, within a short drive of such locations as Don Harrington Discovery Center, Amarillo Botanical Gardens and Wonderland Amusement Park. There are many restaurants close by. Accommodations include a selection of kitchenette suites, while hotel features include a fitness center, event space and an indoor saltwater pool.

Guest rooms at Hampton Inn Amarillo enjoy long distance views east and west across the flat plains on the east side of the city - the hotel has a semi-rural location along the northern I-40 frontage road near exit 74, Whitaker Road. The Home2 Suites, open late 2021, is part of a lightly-developed neighborhood on the eastern approach to Amarillo, I-40, near the Hwy 335 intersection, right next to the famous Big Texan Steak Ranch and its 72 oz steak challenge. There are several other restaurants in the vicinity. This is an extended stay property, with suites in studio and one-bedroom layouts; all include a full kitchen. The 102 room Springhill Suites is one of the large number of hotels on the west side of Amarillo, located at the Soncy Road exit of I-40, adjacent to many restaurants and a 14 screen cinema. Westgate Mall is close by, on the far side of the interstate, together with several large stores. All accommodations are studio suites, equipped with a sofa bed, refrigerator, microwave and silverware; cookable meals can be purchased from a 24 hour market. Hot buffet breakfast is complimentary. The westernmost of several Holiday Inn Express hotels in Amarillo is part of the wide range of accommodation choices near Westgate Mall - beside I-80 right at the west edge of the city. Farmland surrounds the hotel in some directions but there are many shops & restaurants within half a mile, mostly on the opposite (south) side of the interstate. The well reviewed Holiday Inn Express hotel in Amarillo (the most central of several similar properties in town) is located just off I-40 along Wolfin Avenue, which is a block south of exit 68A (Georgia Street). Nearby sites of interest are the Westgate Mall and Amarillo's two major hospitals, both 4 miles west. All 90 rooms & suites are very clean and modern, and contain a refrigerator, minibar, coffee maker, cable TV & microwave. The easternmost Holiday Inn Express hotel in Amarillo (6.5 miles from downtown) has a rural setting alongside I-40 close to the international airport. The Best Western Plus is a summer 2019 addition to the hotel choices in west Amarillo, situated on the north side of Amarillo Boulevard just off Coulter Street and close to Interstate 40. The various clinics and other facilities of the Medical District are within walking distance to the north, while many restaurants are also nearby. The hotel provides free hot breakfast and has the usual facilities for recreation, business and meetings.

The Best Western Santa Fe lies along the main eastern approach to Amarillo, interstate 40 - a short distance west along the southern frontage road, starting at exit 73 (Eastern Street). This semi rural location is 3 miles from Amarillo International Airport and 2 miles from the downtown area. The Fairfield Inn has an easterly location in Amarillo, one of relatively few places serving the international airport; the hotel is built beside I-40 at the Airport Boulevard exit, 2 miles from the terminal buildings and 6 miles from the city center. Four story, 83 room Comfort Suites Amarillo presents an elegant frontage, colored a variety of pastel shades; the newly constructed building sits beside the Western Crossing Mall, near I-40 exit 67, also close to a good selection of restaurants. The Spark by Hilton of west Amarillo is reached by the southern I-40 frontage road, though sits 500 feet from the freeway behind several other buildings including a restaurant, and borders a residential estate to the rear, so the place is nice and quiet. This location is half a mile from Westgate Shopping Center (with many more restaurants) and 7 miles from downtown Amarillo. Free breakfast is provided, together with the usual facilities for business, meetings and leisure. The Microtel Inn has an east-central location in Amarillo near the Ross Street I-40 exit, surrounded by restaurants, small shops and other business premises. The two floor building is surrounded by lawns, with the main parking lot at the front, and large-vehicle spaces at the rear. The pet friendly Amarillo East hotel is one of Baymont Inn's older properties, consisting of two interior corridor blocks enclosed by ample parking space, situated on the southern I-40 frontage road about 2 miles from the city center. A few trees help shield the hotel from the adjacent freeway and the rooms are relatively quiet, especially those at the south end. A typical collection of fast food restaurants can be found close by along Ross Street, plus a Wal-Mart store and the main Amarillo post office. Wi-fi and continental breakfast are provided free of charge. The main amenity is an indoor pool.

Locations within one mile of Days Inn Amarillo include Westgate Mall, a 14 screen movie theater, Pavilion Northwest Healthcare, Texas Tech University Heath Sciences Center and Amarillo Botanical Gardens, while there are several restaurants much closer. Days Inn Amarillo East is a relatively large motel of five floors, 119 rooms (all containing refrigerator/microwave) and an outdoor pool at the rear, well away from I-40 which runs past at the front. Complimentary breakfast buffet is prepared each morning and for lunch/dinner there are over a dozen restaurants a short walk away, along Ross Street. The nearest supermarket is Wal-Mart, half a mile away on the far side of the interstate. Guests here to work can take advantage of a business center, a 65-person meeting room and A/V equipment. A free shuttle is provided to Amarillo International Airport, 6 miles east.

The Super 8 is among the easternmost motels in Amarillo, located on the north side of Interstate 40 at the Hwy 335 exit, close to Pilot Travel Center. Also nearby are an RV site, gas station and restaurant, but most of the surroundings are open fields. The pet friendly motel has three interior corridor floors and 60 guest rooms, but few amenities: only free continental breakfast (with eight items), free wi-fi and basic business services. The city center is 7 miles west.

The most central Super 8 property in Amarillo faces Interstate 40 (north side), 2 miles east of the intersection with I-27, next to the offices of American Quarter Horse Association. There is one restaurant just down the street and many more about one mile away, along Ross Street. All 67 guest rooms feature free wi-fi, a microwave and refrigerator, and are contained within an interior corridor building. Free continental breakfast is provided each morning. Pets are welcome. The motel has a 24 hour business center, though no pool.

Super 8 Amarillo West is accessed from the Paramount Boulevard exit of I-40, 3 miles southwest of the city center, and is located in a busy commercial area with shops, restaurants and other hotels. Western Crossing Mall is a short walk west. The motel charges low rates, on account of the limited facilities (just free wi-fi, free continental breakfast, an indoor pool and a business center), though rooms are large and the staff friendly. Accommodations are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.
