Northwest San Antonio Hotels (Medical Center)

Formerly the Omni Hotel, the fully renovated Westin rises 19 floors above the I-10 corridor in northwest San Antonio - part of a long line of businesses on the north side of the freeway, ten miles from the city center. Locations within a few miles include the University of Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Rim and University Hospital. Dining outlets at the luxury, full service property are Bolo's restaurant, open for breakfast & lunch, featuring Southern Texas cuisine, and the lobby bar, serving dinner & evening drinks. 25,000 square feet of meeting space accommodates events of up to 1,500 people.

San Antonio Marriott Northwest offers upscale, modern facilities to business or leisure travelers to this part of the city, and has a prominent setting right beside the I-10/I-410 intersection, a location 5.5 miles from the international airport, close enough to provide a free shuttle service. On entry, guests are greeted by an elegant, four story atrium lobby, home of the business center and lounge, while other interior facilities are two restaurants (the Southwestern-style Red Rim Bistro, and River City Cantina), gift shop, fitness center and 8,445 square feet of meetings space. The grounds contain an outdoor pool and a small garden area, both with views northwards to the adjacent Malibu Grand Prix, a family entertainment center.

Right next to to the main hospital/medical center in San Antonio, the Courtyard by Marriott hotel is a quiet place to stay, set a little way back from the main street (Fredericksburg Road), in a semi-residential area. Other sites in town are easily reached via interstate 10 which runs by one mile east. The hotel occupies an older building though is well maintained and regularly renovated; it offers has amenities of an outdoor pool, fitness center, business center, 24 hour market, and a cafe serving breakfast. Other meals can be purchased from at least half a dozen restaurants just up the street.

One of many high quality hotels along the I-10 corridor in northwest San Antonio, the Homewood Suites caters more to the extended stay traveler, offering accommodations in one bedroom (600 sq ft floorspace) and two bedroom (900 sq ft) configurations, all with a fully equipped kitchen. Food for cooking can be bought from a 24 hour convenience store, or ordered via the free grocery shopping service. The hotel has a quiet location, 500 feet east of the freeway, shielded by a small row of shops. There are seven restaurants within two blocks, while free hot breakfast and free evening light dinner (Mon-Thu) are available onsite. Guest rooms are in two buildings, either side of a sheltered courtyard garden with outdoor pool, patio and basketball court.

San Antonio's Country Inn has a northwesterly location along the I-10 frontage road (west side), half a mile south of exit 560 (Medical Drive), and is less than a mile from the various hospitals of the South Texas Medical Center. Despite the proximity of the interstate this is a quiet location, with a wooded, residential district to the west. The hotel has an outdoor pool at the rear and serves free hot breakfast; other complimentary amenities are wi-fi, all-day coffee and weekday newspapers.

Hampton Inn & Suites San Antonio is built alongside I-10 near exit 558 (De Zavala Road), ten miles northwest of the city center - in a relatively quiet, wooded neighborhood close to South Texas Medical Center. Accommodation comprises 109 comfortable studio suites featuring a microwave, refrigerator, work desk and free internet access. Free hot breakfast buffet is prepared each morning, and there are several dozen restaurants within a mile, some just a short walk away. Recreation amenities are a fitness center, indoor pool and whirlpool. A business center and 40 person meeting room are available for people here to work. The hotel opened summer 2015, after refurbishment of an existing property.

The TownePlace Suites hotel in northwest San Antonio provides good quality, reasonably priced, long stay accommodation in 123 studio suites that contain a full kitchen, large work desk, and separate living/sleeping areas. Both free full breakfast and free evening light dinner (Mon-Thu) are provided, and there is a reasonable selection of restaurants one block away around the Huebner Road exit of interstate 10. The hotel operates a complimentary shuttle to places within a three mile radius, including the San Antonio Medical Center complex.

The SpringHill Suites hotel in San Antonio has good road connections, located right next to the junction of I-10 and I-410 on northwest side of town, adjacent to the Crossroads Mall and near to many restaurants. The Medical Center is 3 miles north, and downtown San Antonio 8 miles south along I-10. Contained within the five floor building are 112 large suites - containing a kitchen area with sink, microwave & refrigerator - plus a fitness center, guest laundry, full service business center, dining area where free full breakfast is provided, and three meeting rooms.

Clarion Pointe San Antonio is easily accessed from Loop 410 but situated a little way south of the freeway and so offers quiet accommodation. The four floor hotel has a rather shady outdoor pool on the north side, a decent-sized parking lot all around, and interior facilities of a fitness center and business center. Continental breakfast is complimentary, while lunch and dinner can be purchased from two adjacent restaurants. University of Texas Health Science Center is 1.5 miles north. Guest rooms contain a microwave and refrigerator.

Reasonably priced Holiday Inn Express San Antonio occupies a relatively old but well maintained six story, interior corridor building near the Huebner Road exit of I-10, near to various restaurants, shops and corporate buildings, and one mile south of the many stores at Fiesta Trails Mall. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a quick 5 mile drive northwards along the interstate. The hotel has plenty of parking space and a small, shady outdoor pool; inside, the facilities include guest laundry, a fitness center, business center, two meeting rooms, and a dining area for the free breakfast buffet - situated in in the spacious, floor-to ceiling atrium lobby. The hotel opened summer 2015.

The Holiday Inn Express hotel in northwest San Antonio is a well regarded, reasonably priced establishment offering 80 comfortable rooms, free hot breakfast, free internet access, an outdoor pool/hot tub, and a fitness center. All rooms have a microwave & refrigerator, and look out over a mostly residential area at the Vance Jackson exit of I-10, 1.5 miles from the intersection with I-410. Nearby places include the Crossroads Mall, Central Park Mall, South Texas Medical Center and Oak Hills Country Club; downtown San Antonio is 6 miles south. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, on the far (north) side of the interstate.

Best Western Medical Center is part of a tree-lined, mostly residential neighborhood beside I-10, 12 miles from the city center; along Woodstone Drive, a quarter of mile northwest of exit 559 of the interstate and within 2 miles of University of Texas at San Antonio, and the city's medical district. The main facilities are an outdoor pool, fitness center and a 35 person meeting room. Free hot breakfast buffet is available. Accommodations include several suites with a whirlpool bath.

Open spring 2021, the Fairfield Inn by Marriott has a quiet location in a wooded residential neighborhood along Wurzbach Road, 2.5 miles from Interstate 10 (exit 561), and a few blocks from all the many facilities at the San Antonio Medical Center. There are ten restaurants within walking distance, mostly along Babcock Road. The hotel contains 108 guest rooms, on four floors, and it provides all the usual facilities, including business & fitness centers, free hot breakfast, an outdoot pool/hot tub, and one meeting room.

Comfort Inn San Antonio along the western I-10 frontage road (near the Vance Jackson exit) caters for guests in 82 spacious, well presented rooms & suites, all equipped with a microwave and refrigerator; some have one or more of a whirlpool bath, wet bar and pull-out sofa. Free continental breakfast is served and there are two restaurants adjacent plus plenty more close by, and also a Wal-Mart just across the road. The pet friendly hotel has a good range of amenities, principally a pool, hot tub, exercise room, business center, copy/fax service and free internet access.

Comfort Suites San Antonio is a relatively new, modern and well managed hotel of 72 oversized rooms, all featuring a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and pillowtop mattresses. Free continental breakfast is available, and while the choice of restaurants within walking distance is rather limited, there are plenty of places a mile away on the far side of I-10; the hotel is part of a business park at the Vantage Way exit of the interstate, ten miles from downtown San Antonio. The other main facilities are a sundry shop, pool, whirlpool, fitness center, business center and meeting/event space.

Sites within 3 miles of Quality Inn Medical Center include Ingram Park Mall, Crossroads Mall, Oak Hills Country Club and of course the South Texas Medical Center. The inn faces I-410 (south side), near many restaurants, shops and other businesses, and 4 miles from I-10. Guests can relax in a sheltered outdoor pool & hot tub at the rear of the property; inside, the main amenities are free continental breakfast, free internet access, laundry and a small meeting room. The 55 guest rooms are clean, if a little dated, and all contain a microwave/refrigerator.

The exterior corridor Days Inn is one of the southernmost hotels in the Medical Center region of northwest San Antonio, situated 5 miles from the city center facing Interstate 10 (Vance Jackson exit), close to a Walmart superstore and several other shops & restaurants; one (IHOP) is right next door. Guests can take advantage of free wi-fi, free continental breakfast and an outdoor pool. Rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.

The Econo Lodge in northwest San Antonio is part of a commercial corridor either side of Loop 410, located near the intersection with Hwy 16 from Bandera and Kerrville. Nearby attractions include Ingram Park Mall (1.5 miles), the Medical Center (2.5 miles) and SeaWorld (8 miles). The motel occupies a compact, three floor building with interior corridors, adjacent to several restaurants, and it provides free continental breakfast. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is 5 miles north of the Rodeway Inn, an easy journey all along Interstate 10. The motel enjoys a quiet location one block west of the freeway next to several business offices, and it offers budget-priced accommodations with in-room amenities of a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Rooms are in two exterior corridor buildings either side of a garden and outdoor pool. The standard free continental breakfast is prepared each morning. Guest laundry and a business center are also available.
