South San Antonio Hotels

The latest, and largest hotel in the Brooks City Base development of south San Antonio is the Embassy Suites, which contains 155 two-room suites and a conference center with over 20,000 sq ft of meeting space, catering for events of up to 500 people. The full service property has a quiet location bordering a residential estate on the south side of Military Drive, set back from the adjacent roads but within a short walk of a group of restaurants and small shops; larger stores including HEB, Home Depot and Walmart can be found one mile east. Accommodations feature an executive desk, sofa bed and wet bar, while the hotel has many other amenities including an outdoor pool, spa, fitness center, snack/sundry shop and an all-day restaurant, Nineteen 17, which also provides room service.

One of several new hotels in the City Base development in southeast San Antonio opened late 2016 - the Hampton Inn is a substantial, four floor property within walking distance to shopping and dining, half a mile from the Military Drive exit of I-37, and 3 miles from I-410. Free breakfast is provided for four hours each morning, and wi-fi is also complimentary. A business center and 50 person meeting room are available for guests here to work, while the other main facilities are a fitness center, outdoor pool and hot tub. Accommodations include suites, with separate living area and sofa bed.

The Holiday Inn Express was the first hotel to open in the City Base region of southeast San Antonio, formerly Brooks Air Force Base; close to Mission Trail Baptist Hospital and a variety of shops including Walmart and Target, plus a 12 screen cinema. The hotel is easily accessed from I-37 and I-410, and is within 2 miles of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Exterior facilities are a pool, gazebo and barbecue area, while inside, the hotel has a fitness center, business center, meeting space for up to 60 people and a dining room for the free hot breakfast buffet. The 101 room/suite property began opertions late 2014.

One of the newer Holiday Inn Express hotels in San Antonio is located just southeast of exit 44 of loop 410 (Chavaneux Road) - ten miles south of downtown, and part of a small residential district surrounded by undeveloped farmland. The junction with I-37 is a short distance east. The hotel offers 66 rooms on three floors, an outdoor pool, fitness center, business center and free hot breakfast buffet. The peaceful neighborhood includes various parks and golf courses, as well as the wooded San Antonio River valley, along which are found the famous missions - the Missions National Historical Park is just one mile away.

Best Western Palo Alto Inn is one of the relatively few older hotels in southwest San Antonio, built right at the edge of the countryside next to a gas station and restaurant at the Palo Alto exit of I-410, surrounded by farmland in most directions. Palo Alto College is within walking distance on the far side of the interstate, and the city center is 8 miles north. The 4 story hotel has 75 modern, bright and comfortable rooms, all containing a microwave, refrigerator and coffee/tea maker; most have a sofa bed. Free full breakfast is served each morning. Leisure facilities are the usual pool (indoor), hot tub and fitness center.

May 2016 was the opening date for Fairfield Inn in southeast San Antonio, Marriott's representative in the extensive City Base retail/business/entertainment development; major stores within a short walk include Lowe's, Sam's Club, Target, HEB and Walmart, and there are many restaurants close by. The hotel is located by I-37 exit 135 (Military Drive), along a short side road; downtown San Antonio is 7 miles northwest, all along the interstate. Free hot breakfast, free wi-fi, a fitness center, outdoor pool and a boardroom are the main facilities.

Quality Suites San Antonio is situated in the middle of the leafy suburbs of southeast San Antonio, on the SE corner of exit 135 of I-37 (Military Drive; TX 13). This peaceful neighborhood includes various parks and golf courses, as well as the wooded San Antonio River valley, along which are found the famous missions - the Missions National Historical Park is just 2 miles west. The 65 room hotel offers an outdoor pool/spa, exercise room, guest laundry, meeting/business services and refrigerator & microwave in each room. Free full breakfast is provided.

The pet friendly Baymont San Antonio South Park occupies a Spanish-style building of two stories and exterior corridors, with ample parking space, on all sides, and an outdoor pool at one corner. Free wi-fi and free breakfast are the other main amenities. There are three restaurants adjacent, and shops, including those at South Park Mall. The hotel is situated along the eastern I-35 frontage road, 5.5 miles from the city center.

Days Inn San Antonio at Palo Alto enjoys a pleasant setting, partly surrounded by trees and fields, in a quiet district near the southwest edge of the city, along Hwy 422 a short distance from Palo Alto Community College. All guest accommodations contain a refrigerator/microwave, and some overlook the outdoor pool (enlivened by a small waterfall) and sundeck, on the south side. The usual two complimentary amenities of continental breakfast and wi-fi are available, together with a fitness center and a meeting room. There are several restaurants with walking distance to the south.

I-37 runs past Super 8 San Antonio to the east, leading to the city center 5 miles north and the I-410 intersection 3.5 miles south, this right at the edge of the suburbs. The neighborhood is a mixture of homes, parks and woodland, with the San Antonio River a couple of miles west, followed by the Mission Trail. The pet friendly motel provides free continental breakfast (with eight items) and adjoins an IHOP restaurant for other meals. A fitness center, indoor pool and a 24 hour business center are the other main facilities. Wi-fi is also complimentary.
