For the purposes of this list, the Southwest includes California, Colorado and Texas. If all of the West is considered then the national parks of Glacier, Grand Teton, Mount Rainier, Olympic and Yellowstone would be included, and John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway.
Like the majority of the busiest National Park Service units in the Southwest,
Cabrillo National Moment is popular in part due to its closeness to a large city, in this case San Diego. The monument occupies a small area around the southern tip of Point Loma, looking eastwards across San Diego Bay and the US Naval Air Station to the city center, and west out over the Pacific. Apart from the views, Cabrillo is similar to many other state-managed preserves along the southern California coast; it contains a historic lighthouse and is bordered by grassy bluffs, below which are cliffs, eroded sandstone strata and tidepools.
