Kanarra Creek lies just outside
Zion National Park in southwest Utah but its canyon is similar to those within - it contains a permanent stream, forming pools and cascades, blocked by chokestones in a few places and enclosed by high, reddish walls of Navajo sandstone. The narrow part extends for 1.5 miles, gradually transitioning to a bushier, less sheer-walled gorge, still very pretty. The narrows are quite well known, and improvised ladders (old logs) are usually installed to help hikers overcome the larger obstacles.
Location: 1.9 miles east of the small town of Kanarraville -
