Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site features several large outcrops of weathered, reddish-grey granite, near El Paso in the Chihuahuan Desert of far west Texas. The place is a renowned rock climbing location, and is also famous because of the many historic inscriptions on the rocks, ranging from pictographs and petroglyphs up to 700 years old, to pioneer signatures from the early 20th century. Some parts are viewable only on guided tours, to protect the rock art.
