The highlight of
Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is the world's largest travertine natural bridge, situated in the steep-sided valley of Pine Creek, in hilly land towards the north edge of the Tonto National Forest near Payson. The travertine is an ancient deposit formed by mineral-laden springs; the creek later eroded through the base. The bridge can be viewed from all directions, and other short trails explore more of the valley.
