Sand Hollow is a relatively new state park, established in 2003, situated at the edge of the Mojave Desert in southwest Utah, near St George. The park contains a photogenic reservoir lined in part by eroded red sandstone, and in other places by sandy beaches, plus a causeway to the west and a black, volcanic mesa to the northeast, while in the distance are the tall cliffs of Zion National Park and the steep slopes of the Pine Valley Mountains. People come here mostly for camping, off-road driving (in a sandy area to the south), and the usual water-based activities.
