Near Panaca in the Great Basin Desert of Nevada,
Cathedral Gorge State Park encloses a narrowing valley flanked by low hills of soft mudstone, eroded into a fantastic array of formations, including pinnacles, hoodoos, narrow ravines and short caves. The park has a campground and picnic area, and one main trail, following beneath the best formations then climbing to a viewpoint above the north end of the gorge.
