Saddleback Butte State Park is a small preserve towards the west edge of the Mojave Desert, within sight of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. The centerpiece is an isolated peak, sparsely covered with Joshua trees and cacti, and the two main activities are camping, and hiking the moderately steep, two mile trail to the summit, which affords a fantastic, panoramic view across the desert.
